Neck Design

Updated April 8, 2023

I want to be able to support the brain and bubble without  it being wobbly, yet allow smooth action. I've discovered that schedule 80 (gray) 2" pipe, which has a thicker wall than the standard white schedule 40, is just the right size to fit the typical 1.5" neck pipe inside.

It fits snugly enough so that it won't jiggle and wobble, yet loose enough to allow the 1.5" pipe to slide. To mount the 2" pipe, a pvc flange fitting will mount under / inside the radar.

Image made in SolidWorks.

I made a neck bracket to fit my offset gearmotor (1.3" diameter / 33mm).

It barely fits inside the neck pipe due to the body being offset.

STL file is HERE

I also made a bracket to hold the motor in place. STL file is available at the link above.
